02 Manufacturing
2.1 Pressure Relief Gauge
| The pressure relief gauge on a pad-mounted transformer is a mechanical monitoring and protection device. It continuously indicates internal pressure via a color-coded dial and automatically vents dangerous overpressure-caused by faults like internal arcing-to prevent tank rupture. A visual indicator remains displayed after operation to signal that a pressure release has occurred, aiding in fault identification and maintenance. | ![]() |
2.2 200A, 25 kV rotatable feedthru insert
![]() | The 200A, 25 kV rotatable feedthru insert is engineered to deliver dual bushings through a single equipment bushing well, streamlining two key operations: converting radial-feed transformers into feed-thru configurations and integrating in-line arrester protection with unmatched ease and practicality. Its standout feature is a patented integrated torque-limiting ratchet, which safeguards bushing well studs from accidental damage during installation. This ratchet mechanism also enables 360° rotation of the insert, allowing operators to position it optimally for specific application requirements. A bail assembly included in the kit secures the feedthru in its desired position once adjusted. Constructed with an all-copper current path and peroxide-cured EPDM rubber, the insert fully complies with IEEE Std 386™-2006. When paired with products of equivalent rating, it delivers a fully shielded connection solution. |
2.3 Tank
| Pad mounted transformer fuel tank design has a unique structure and function. The tank of this type of transformer is usually made of strong metal material, which can withstand the influence of external environment, and has good weather and corrosion resistance. The tank not only stores the insulating oil, but also provides the necessary cooling and protection of the transformer’s internal components. The oil tank of pad mounted transformer is usually designed to be sealed to prevent the entry of external moisture and contaminants, which can maintain the performance of the insulating oil and extend its service life. Insulating oil plays an important role in this design, in addition to providing insulation protection, it also helps dissipate heat through convection and heat dissipation mechanisms, thus ensuring safe operation of the transformer under high load conditions. In order to facilitate operation and maintenance, many ground transformers are equipped with viewing Windows, oil level gauges and temperature sensors on the tank to monitor changes in oil level and temperature in real time. In addition, the shape of the tank is usually designed to be compact, so that it can be flexibly arranged in urban environments, and the bottom is often equipped with a leakproof structure to ensure that in the event of accidental leakage, it can effectively prevent pollution to the environment. | ![]() |
2.4 Final Assembly
Base Installation: Secure the transformer base in the designated position, ensuring it is level and stable.
Core and Winding Installation: Insert the transformer’s core and windings into the enclosure, ensuring proper alignment and secure attachment.
Insulation Treatment: Insulate the windings using oil-impregnated or other insulating materials to enhance safety and performance.
Terminal Connections: Install the high voltage and low voltage terminal connections, ensuring they are secure.
Sealing and Oil Filling: Seal the enclosure to prevent water and dust intrusion, and fill with transformer oil if necessary.
2.5 Temperature Gauge
![]() | The temperature gauge on a pad-mounted transformer is a device for monitoring the internal oil or winding temperature. Traditional units often feature a direct-reading dial-type (bimetallic) gauge, while modern transformers are typically equipped with electronic gauges that provide remote output signals (e.g., 4-20mA or digital communication) for SCADA systems and over-temperature alarms. Its primary function is to ensure safe operation by preventing overheating due to sustained overloads or cooling failures, thereby protecting insulation life and optimizing load management. |
2.6 Low-Voltage Neutral Bushing
| The low-voltage neutral bushing provides the external connection point for the transformer’s internal neutral. It typically features a fully insulated, dead-front design with a loadbreak interface for safe hot-stick operation and includes an integrated grounding/test point. This allows for easy system grounding, safe isolation, and convenient disconnect for insulation testing, making it essential for both system safety and field maintenance. | ![]() |
