Reliable, efficient, and high-performance – the 100 kVA light pole transformer delivers stable power for demanding North American distribution networks
01 General
1.1 Project Description
This 2000 kVA pad-mounted transformer meets the latest US standards, including IEEE C57.12.34-2022 and DOE 2016 efficiency requirements. It steps down primary utility voltage from 24 kV to a secondary output of 480GrdY/277 V.
Featuring copper windings and a Dyn1 vector group, its KNAN cooling ensures robust operation. A significant environmental and safety upgrade comes from the use of FR3 fluid – enhancing green building credentials while significantly reducing fire risk, making it ideal for critical infrastructure and dense urban settings.
With loop feed functionality, the transformer integrates easily into ring-type distribution systems, enhancing system reliability and allowing routine maintenance without service interruption. The dead-front design enhances operator safety.
Primarily applied in electric power distribution, this transformer steps down high-voltage input for integration with energy management systems and underground industrial power infrastructure.

02 Manufacturing
2.1 Core
| Built with multi-layer silicon steel laminations insulated by varnish or resin, SCOTECH cores effectively suppress eddy currents and reduce circulating losses. This laminated design also minimizes hysteresis loss, especially during repeated magnetization. It ensures higher efficiency and extends the transformer’s service life. | ![]() |
2.2 Winding
![]() | This 2000 kVA Dyn1 transformer features copper windings with foil structure on the LV side and multi-layer cylindrical winding on the HV side. The design ensures strong short-circuit resistance, low partial discharge, and excellent thermal performance for stable operation under 24 kV utility input. |
2.3 Tank
| Equipped with devices like pressure relief valves, oil level indicators, and vacuum gauges, the tank allows real-time monitoring of internal conditions. These features support fault prevention and improve safety throughout transformer operation. | ![]() |
2.4 Bushing
2.5 Final assembly
![]() | Scotech ensures all delivered transformers are clearly identified and labeled according to Division 26 “Electrical Identification” standards. During installation, we recommend that all electrical connections and terminals be tightened per UL 486A and UL 486B to ensure long-term reliability. |
