01 General

1.1 Project Description

2000 kVA three phase pad mounted transformer was delivered to USA in 2025. The rated power of the transformer is 2000 kVA with KNAN cooling. The high voltage is 12.47GrdY/7.2 kV with ±2*2.5% tapping range (NLTC), the low voltage is 0.48Y/0.277 kV, they formed a vector group of YNyn0.

As a critical component in modern electrical distribution networks, the pad mounted transformer is engineered to deliver reliable voltage conversion and power distribution for residential, commercial, and industrial applications. This transformer stands out with its environmentally friendly and safe design, featuring FR3 natural ester insulation oil-a renewable, readily biodegradable solution that eliminates the environmental risks associated with traditional mineral oil. FR3 oil not only boasts exceptional fire safety (with flash and fire points twice those of mineral oil) but also extends the lifespan of insulation paper by up to eight times, ensuring long-term operational stability. Compliant with strict DOE energy efficiency standards, it minimizes energy loss and reduces operational costs significantly. Equipped with a built-in arrester, it effectively safeguards against voltage surges and transient overvoltages, while the integrated static shield enhances insulation performance and reduces partial discharge risks. The side-mounted gauge box provides convenient real-time monitoring of key operational parameters, ensuring timely maintenance and fault detection. Finished with powder-coated white (RAL 9003) paint, the transformer offers excellent weather resistance and corrosion protection, making it suitable for diverse outdoor environments. This pad mounted transformer is the ideal choice for users prioritizing environmental sustainability, operational safety, and long-term reliability.

02 Manufacturing

2.1 HV Neutral (H0)

The high-voltage neutral point of this pad mounted transformer is brought out as a separate H0 bushing, a deliberate design that facilitates flexible grounding configuration, simplifies on-site grounding operation and maintenance, and enhances operational safety. This arrangement allows for precise control over the neutral point potential, effectively suppresses overvoltage risks, and seamlessly accommodates diverse power grid grounding requirements (such as TN, TT systems), making the transformer adaptable to a wide range of urban distribution, industrial park, and commercial building applications.HV Neutral

2.2 LV Neutral Bushing (X0)

LV Neutral BushingThe low-voltage neutral section of the pad mounted transformer is configured with two dedicated bushings for distinct functions: one bushing extends the static shield out of the tank and is securely grounded within the LV compartment, effectively mitigating partial discharge risks and enhancing the transformer’s insulation performance; the other bushing is exclusively used for leading out the LV neutral point, enabling flexible neutral point connection configurations to meet the grounding requirements of various distribution systems.

2.3 Four Position Loadbreak Switch

The four-position loadbreak switch of the pad mounted transformer is a critical on-load switching component integrated with four preset operational positions, designed to enable safe and reliable switching operations (such as voltage regulation, circuit on/off control, or grounding protection) under loaded conditions without interrupting the overall power supply. Engineered to match the working characteristics of pad mounted transformers in urban distribution networks, industrial parks, and commercial facilities, this switch features a robust structure, superior insulation performance, and precise position indexing, ensuring stable contact and low contact resistance during switching processes. Its four-position configuration offers flexible adaptability to diverse load scenarios and grid voltage adjustment demands, while the inherent loadbreak capability eliminates the need for power outages during position shifts-effectively enhancing power supply continuity and reliability. Additionally, it complies with the safety and environmental requirements of outdoor or enclosed installation environments, providing a durable and efficient switching solution for pad mounted transformer systems.

2.4 Grounding Copper Busbar

Grounding Copper BusbarThe grounding copper busbar of a pad-mounted transformer is a solid copper conductor installed inside the enclosure to provide a common grounding point. It connects the transformer tank, high- and low-voltage grounding points, cable shields, and surge protection devices, ensuring a low-impedance path to earth. This busbar improves personnel safety and equipment protection by effectively dissipating fault and lightning currents.

2.5 1''Drain Valve With 3/8'' Sampler

The transformer is equipped with a robust 1-inch drain valve featuring an integrated 3/8-inch sampling port, designed to facilitate routine dielectric fluid analysis and maintenance; the 1-inch valve allows for the efficient removal of accumulated sediment or sludge from the tank bottom, while the 3/8-inch sampler provides a dedicated, smaller-bore connection to extract representative oil samples without draining the unit, ensuring both operational integrity and compliance with diagnostic testing protocols.1''Drain Valve With 3/8'' Sampler

03 Testing

insulation resistanceThe pad-mounted transformer undergoes a comprehensive suite of rigorous tests prior to deployment, including insulation resistance and polarization index tests to verify dielectric integrity of windings and bushings, turns ratio and vector group tests to ensure voltage transformation accuracy and phase alignment, power frequency withstand voltage tests to validate insulation against transient overvoltages, load and no-load loss tests to measure energy efficiency metrics, and sealed tank integrity tests to prevent oil leakage-all performed in accordance with international standards such as IEEE C57 to guarantee reliable, safe, and long-lasting performance in outdoor, underground, or utility-distribution applications.
