Reliable three phase pad mounted distribution transformers built for safe, efficient, long-term performance.
01 General
1.1 Project Description
In 2025, four 2500 kVA three phase pad mounted distribution transformers were delivered to the American market, with final shipment to a U.S. Midwest utility project site, for use in loop feed underground distribution systems serving commercial and light industrial applications, where reliability, operational safety, and long-term performance under continuous and harmonic load conditions are critical; as core power conversion units in the distribution network, these three phase pad mounted distribution transformers perform stable voltage transformation from 12.47 kV to 0.6 kV and adopt a Dyn1 vector group to match North American grid configurations.
These three phase pad mounted distribution transformers are configured with copper windings and FR3 insulation fluid to enhance conductivity, thermal performance, and fire safety while meeting DOE efficiency requirements to reduce lifecycle energy losses; the design integrates low-voltage side cable exit arrangements, monitoring devices with contact outputs and terminal boxes for centralized signal management, as well as surge arresters and a K-factor 4 rating to ensure reliable operation under harmonic load conditions, while the grounding shield systems with dedicated grounding shield bushings routed to the low-voltage compartments further improve fault current control and overall system safety.

02 Manufacturing
2.1 Core Design & Efficiency Control
The four three phase pad mounted distribution transformers utilize high-permeability silicon steel and optimized magnetic circuit design to reduce no-load losses and comply with DOE efficiency standards, helping end users achieve lower operating costs and improved energy performance over the transformer lifecycle.
2.2 Copper Winding & Thermal Performance
Copper windings in these three phase pad mounted distribution transformers provide high electrical conductivity, strong mechanical integrity, and efficient heat dissipation, supporting continuous operation and improving resistance to thermal stress under varying load and harmonic conditions.
2.3 Protection System
The three phase pad mounted distribution transformers are equipped with a coordinated protection system including four-position load break switches, fuse protection, and surge arresters, enabling effective fault isolation, overcurrent protection, and overvoltage mitigation in loop feed distribution networks.
2.4 Monitoring Devices & Terminal Box Integration
These three phase pad mounted distribution transformers integrate multiple monitoring devices, including oil temperature indicators with alarm and trip contacts, oil level gauges with signaling capability, pressure relief valves, and vacuum pressure gauges, all connected through terminal boxes that enable centralized signal output and facilitate system monitoring and maintenance planning.
2.5 Grounding Shield & Cable Arrangement Design
The three phase pad mounted distribution transformers incorporate internal grounding shield systems with dedicated grounding shield bushings routed to the low-voltage compartments, while the low-voltage cable exit configuration is designed for convenient installation and maintenance access, improving operational safety and fault current management.
