Steadfast Overhead, Powering Life Below. Trusted Pole Mounted Transformers.
01 General
1.1 Project Description
112.5 kVA three phase pole mounted transformer was delivered to Canada in 2025. The rated power of the transformer is 112.5 kVA with ONAN cooling. The high voltage is 13.8D kV with ±2*2.5% tapping range (NLTC), the low voltage is 0.12/0.208 kV, they formed a vector group of Dyn1.
This 112.5kVA three-phase pole-mounted transformer is a high-efficiency core power conversion device in medium-low voltage distribution networks, serving as a key distribution unit for urban distribution network terminals, industrial park branches, and remote area power supply systems. It adopts a pole-mounted suspension installation structure, equipped with an outdoor-specific anti-corrosion and rust-proof sealed cabinet and 13.8kV-class insulation bushings, which are suitable for overhead line deployment at height. A voltage regulation switch is configured on its high-voltage side, enabling ±2*2.5% voltage fine-tuning to flexibly adapt to grid fluctuations and ensure stable end-user power supply.
With a rated capacity of 112.5kVA, it supports 13800V medium-voltage input and 208V/120V low-voltage output. Under three-phase load conditions, it can carry an approx. 158A rated current on the low-voltage side-capable of providing three-phase power for industrial equipment, while also meeting single-phase lighting power needs for commercial and residential users. Its power conversion efficiency exceeds 98.74% under rated load, effectively reducing power loss in the distribution link.
This transformer is widely applicable to scenarios including urban distribution network renovation (resolving overload issues in old areas), industrial park branch distribution (supporting continuous power supply for small and medium-sized workshops), remote area power supply coverage (filling power gaps in rural and suburban areas), and temporary power scenarios (such as large outdoor construction and events). Compared with ground-mounted transformers, it not only saves ground space but also improves operation and maintenance safety by being away from personnel activity areas. Its high insulation level and anti-corrosion design enable an outdoor service life of over 20 years, significantly reducing long-term operation and maintenance costs. Meanwhile, its voltage regulation function can mitigate the impact of voltage fluctuations on precision equipment, making it a mainstream option for distribution network upgrades with compactness, high reliability, and scenario adaptability.

02 Manufacturing
2.1 Tank
| This is the tank for the 112.5kVA three-phase pole-mounted transformer, crafted from sturdy steel and in semi-finished production (with gray primer applied). It has a rectangular welded structure: the top includes interfaces for transformer core components, while 4 front circular openings are reserved for wiring/accessories. Paired with sealed covers (seen nearby), it will house internal parts, hold insulating oil (for insulation and heat dissipation), and protect internal components after full assembly. | ![]() |
2.2 Final Assembly
![]() | This is the final assembly site of the 112.5kVA three-phase pole-mounted transformer, with the lead wire welding process currently in progress. Visible here are the transformer’s core components (including three-phase windings wrapped in white insulation), and a worker is handling light beige insulated copper lead wires-welding them to connect the windings with external terminals (a key step to ensure stable power transmission). Common assembly tools (like scissors and wrenches) lie nearby; this wiring connection is a critical electrical link in final assembly, laying the groundwork for subsequent enclosure sealing and performance testing. |
2.3 Pressure Relief Device
| The pressure relief device installed on this 112.5kVA three-phase pole-mounted transformer is a critical safety component designed to rapidly vent internally generated gases in the event of a severe internal fault or excessive pressure buildup. It functions as a mechanical failsafe, instantly activating to prevent catastrophic tank rupture by releasing pressure through a dedicated vent port, thereby minimizing the risk of fire, explosion, and equipment damage. Typically featuring a visual flag or indicator that signals operation, the device helps protect the transformer’s structural integrity and ensures the safety of the surrounding utility infrastructure and personnel. Once activated, it requires manual inspection and reset during subsequent maintenance. | ![]() |
2.4 Tap Changer
![]() | The tap changer equipped on this 112.5kVA three-phase pole-mounted transformer is the standard WSLⅡ3 63/20-6×5 off-circuit type, a universal accessory designed for oil-immersed transformers rather than a custom unit. Installed on the high-voltage side of the transformer, it features a rated voltage of 20kV and a rated current of 63A, with 5 tapping positions that enable a ±2×2.5% voltage regulation range—achieving stable voltage adjustment by altering the number of primary winding turns. As a critical component for voltage stabilization, it must be operated when the transformer is de-energized to ensure safe switching, effectively compensating for grid voltage fluctuations and maintaining consistent low-voltage output for end users. Its robust structural design is compatible with the transformer’s outdoor pole-mounted operation, enduring harsh environmental conditions while ensuring reliable performance throughout long-term use. |
2.5 Oil Level Indicator
The oil level indicator is the standard UHZ-01 model, a universal mechanical accessory designed for medium and small-sized oil-immersed transformers rather than a custom unit. Installed vertically on the side of the transformer’s oil conservator, it operates based on the principles of buoyancy and magnetic coupling: an internal float moves synchronously with the insulating oil level, driving an external indicator to clearly show the liquid level-replacing traditional glass tube gauges with enhanced safety, visibility, and durability. Engineered to withstand harsh outdoor conditions, it features a wide operating temperature range of -40℃ to 80℃, adapts to relative humidity up to 90% (at 25℃), and works reliably at altitudes ≤2000m without being affected by intense vibration or strong magnetic fields. As a critical monitoring component, it allows maintenance personnel to quickly check the oil level status, ensuring sufficient insulation and heat dissipation performance of the transformer and supporting timely troubleshooting to avoid operational risks caused by oil shortage or overflow. | ![]() |
2.6 Low-Voltage Bushing
![]() | The low-voltage bushing of this 112.5kVA three-phase pole-mounted transformer is the standard model 251101-12XD.401.004.B, a universal accessory for oil-immersed transformers. Mounted on the tank side, it’s made of glass fiber-reinforced thermoset polyester for strong weather resistance, suiting outdoor pole-mounted operations. Rated for the transformer’s 208V/120V output with ≥200A current capacity (exceeding the 158A low-voltage side rating), it features tin-plated copper terminals for reliable connections. Complying with 1.2kV insulation standards and equipped with leak-proof seals, it safely transmits low-voltage power while protecting internal components. |
2.7 High-Voltage Bushing
| The high-voltage bushing of this 112.5kVA three-phase pole-mounted transformer is the standard model 12XD.401.010-A, a universal accessory for oil-immersed transformers. Mounted on the tank, it features a porcelain insulation body and brass terminals, rated 18KV/55A with creepage distance ≥450.85mm and 125KV lightning impulse withstand voltage, ensuring safe high-voltage power transmission for outdoor pole-mounted operations. | ![]() |
