SCOTECH Single Phase Pole Mounted Transformers: Reliable Power from 10kVA to 500kVA for Every Grid Need

01 General

1.1 Project Description

The order from our customer in Guyana 2024, an electrical engineering services company, includes transformers with capacities of 25kVA, 50kVA, 75kVA, 100kVA, and 167kVA. 50kVA Ideal for medium-sized residential areas or small businesses.

The transformer thoroughly conforms to IEEE & ANSI C57.12.00 standards. Operates at a primary voltage of 13,800V, stepping down to 120/240V on the secondary side, with a frequency of 60Hz and copper windings. The impedance is 2%, minimising voltage drop under load.

Equipped with an ONAN cooling system and an NLTC (No Load Tap Changer), it offers a 10% tapping range (±2.5% per tap), stabilising secondary voltage even with primary fluctuations. The no-load loss is 160W, and the on-load loss is 512W, optimising energy use. The transformer features subtractive polarity and a vector group of Ii0, defining its phase relationship.

As a leading manufacturer of transformers, we offer the perfect transformer solutions for your electrical distribution needs.

02 Manufacturing

2.1 Core

The structural advantage of the wound core is that it allows the ferromagnetic material to fully utilize its superior electromagnetic properties, reducing the core loss coefficient. The core leg and yoke cross-section of the single-phase wound core are both rectangular and continuously wound with magnetic steel strip, significantly reducing no-load loss, no-load current, and transformer noise.50 kva pole mount transformer wound iron cores

2.2 Winding

50 kva pole mount transformer windingOur transformer windings use high-purity enameled round copper wire, featuring excellent electrical conductivity and compact insulation. The enamel coating provides uniform insulation and reliable dielectric strength. Adopt an optimized coil structure of foil winding for low-voltage coils and wire winding for high-voltage coils, ensuring excellent operational stability, reliability, and thermal performance.

2.3 Tank

Mild steel tank with welded lifting lugs and hanger brackets for direct-to-pole mounting. KVA rating on tank wall. Protective coatings are applied to tanks to reduce corrosion. To ensure the safe operation of these electrical transformers despite exposure to harsh climate conditions and their remote locations, reliability is built into their specifications.50 kva pole mount transformer oil tank

2.4 Final Assembly

50 kva pole mount transformer active part
  1. Winding Assembly: Slide the HV/LV windings onto the laminated core, ensuring proper alignment and insulation integrity.
    2. Electrical Connections: Connect winding leads to tap changer, bushings, and other components, then secure and insulate the joints.
    3. Core-Coil Drying: Place the assembled active part (core + windings) into a drying oven for vacuum heating to remove moisture.
    4. Tank Installation: Hoist the dried active part into the tank, position it securely, and ensure proper insulation from the tank walls.
    5. Accessory Mounting: Install bushings, pressure relief valve and other accessories, then check for leaks.
    6. Oil Filling & Settling: Vacuum-fill with insulating oil, degas, and allow settling before checking oil levels and dielectric strength.
