167 kVA Pole-Mounted Transformer - Scotech's Reliable Power Solution for Grid Infrastructure
01 General
1.1 Project Description
This 167 kva pole mounted transformer was delivered to Guyana in 2024. Conscientiously abide by IEEE & ANSI C57.12.00 standards. The polarity is subtractive, and the vector group is Ii0. Offering a single‑phase voltage rating of 120/240V and a capacity of 167 kVA, this transformer ensures efficient power conversion. It employs the ONAN cooling method. The core and coils are cooled by being surrounded by oil. Copper windings for better conductivity
With a ±2.5% tapping range and a total range of 10%, it delivers consistent voltage output through dynamic load management, optimizing performance amid fluctuating demands. The transformer’s no-load loss is 379W and on-load loss is 1360W, reflecting strong energy efficiency. An impedance of 2.4% minimizes voltage drop under load, supporting consistent and reliable power delivery.
Scotech offers custom-designed transformers, engineered to meet international standards such as IEC, ANSI/IEEE, CSA, RUS, and NEMA. Our product accessories include lightning arresters, IFDs (Internal Fault Detection), thermometers and more. Depending on your requirements, we provide both conventional transformers and Completely Self-Protected (CSP) models.

02 Manufacturing
2.1 Core
| Under the same conditions, wound cores significantly reduce no-load losses and no-load current compared to laminated cores. Wound cores offer over 7% lower no-load losses than laminated cores. Widely used in small capacity pole mounted transformer. We conduct a 100% final quality test to ensure dimensional accuracy and verify that the magnetic value limits are met. | ![]() |
2.2 Winding
Our winding masters, with over 10 years of experience, ensure tight coil alignment and precise tension control in each layer, minimizing loose turns and insulation damage. Combined with high-quality copper and a customized insulation system, our coils can withstand the rigors of high loads and long operating cycles.
2.3 Tank
| The transformer tank is a critical part of a power transformer, containing the core, coils, and insulating oil for safe operation. At Scotech, we manufacture custom transformer tanks built to precise specifications: all material sizes must match drawings, with dimensional deviations under 1 mm. Steel plates must meet national standards, with surfaces free of deformation, heavy rust, peeling, or dents. | ![]() |
