Elevate Your Grid with Our Pole Mounted Transformer Solutions.
01 General
1.1 Project Description
25 kVA single phase pole mounted transformer was delivered to Canada in 2025. The rated power of the transformer is 25 kVA with ONAN cooling. The high voltage is 25D kV with ±2*2.5% tapping range (NLTC), the low voltage is 0.208/0.12 kV, they formed a vector group of Ii6.
As a ubiquitous and trusted component of the electrical landscape, the Single-Phase Pole-Mounted Transformer stands as a silent sentinel of power distribution. Primarily serving residential areas, rural routes, and light commercial applications, its core mission is to reliably step down the higher voltages of distribution lines to the safe, usable levels required in homes and businesses. Engineered for simplicity, durability, and minimal maintenance, these units are designed to withstand the rigors of the outdoor environment-from temperature extremes to moisture and UV exposure. Their iconic pole-top placement allows for efficient use of space and straightforward integration into existing overhead networks. For utilities, this translates to a cost-effective, field-proven solution that forms the vital final link in delivering electricity, day in and day out, to the communities they serve.

02 Manufacturing
2.1 Core
| The wound core of a single-phase pole-mounted transformer is formed by continuously winding high-quality silicon steel strips. It has a compact structure, low magnetic resistance and iron loss, which well adapts to the space-limited pole-mounted installation scenario. | ![]() |
2.2 Winding
Typically arranged in a concentric configuration, the windings are made of insulated conductors wound on a bobbin. The inner low-voltage winding and the outer high-voltage winding are separated by insulating barriers and cooling ducts. This compact and mechanically strong arrangement is crucial for effective energy transfer, heat dissipation, and withstanding the electrical stresses encountered in distribution networks.
2.3 Tank
![]() | Manufactured through a roll-forming and circumferential welding process, this smooth-walled tank lacks corrugations or fins to maximize internal volume and structural simplicity. Its robust, welded construction prioritizes leak-proof integrity and cost-effectiveness, with cooling achieved solely through the plain surface of the cylindrical shell. |
2.4 Final Assembly
| The complete assembly integrates the core-coil assembly into the cylindrical tank, followed by the sealing of the cover and the mounting of all bushings. A critical vacuum drying process is then conducted to remove moisture before the tank is filled with purified insulating oil, ensuring optimal dielectric strength and long-term operational stability. | ![]() |
03 Testing
The test for the 25kVA-25/0.12kV single phase pole mounted transformer was conducted on 2025-04-25 per CSA C2.2-06(R2022) and CSA C802.1-13(R2022). Routine tests included winding resistance, ratio (deviation +0.05~+0.07%), polarity (additive), no-load loss/current (74.6W/0.36% at 100%), load loss/impedance (384W, 2.51%), voltage withstand, insulation resistance (41.2GΩ max), 20kPa/12h leak test, and oil test (dielectric strength 58.3kV). All passed. The report requires 7-day objection period, no unauthorized copying, and is invalid without tester/verifier/approver signatures.

04 Packing and Shipping
4.1 Packing
![]() | For shipment, the transformer is enclosed in a sturdy wooden crate, constructed to its specific dimensions. The internal space is filled with blocking and bracing materials to prevent any movement, ensuring the equipment arrives undamaged and ready for installation. |
4.2 Shipping
| The single phase pole mounted transformer is transported under the CIF (Cost, Insurance and Freight) term to the port of EDMONTON. The seller arranges ocean freight, covers the cost of transporting the transformer (packaged in a wooden case) to EDMONTON Port, and purchases cargo insurance to protect against risks like damage or loss during transit. Risk of the transformer transfers to the buyer once the goods cross the ship’s rail at the loading port, and the buyer takes delivery at EDMONTON Port upon arrival. | ![]() |
