Simplify Your Grid. Specify the Single Phase Pole Mounted Transformer.
01 General
1.1 Project Description
50 kVA single phase pole mounted transformer was delivered to Canada in 2025. The rated power of the transformer is 50 kVA with ONAN cooling. The high voltage is 2.4 kV, the low voltage is 0.6 kV, they formed a vector group of Ii6.
Designed for resilience across key applications-including dense urban neighborhoods, expansive agricultural feeders, and critical commercial power supply-this transformer combines an Internal Fault Detector (IFD) with Anti-Tracking insulation. The IFD provides predictive intelligence to shift maintenance from reactive to proactive, reducing outage times, while the Anti-Tracking housing ensures unwavering performance in polluted or high-humidity areas. This dual technology directly lowers the total cost of ownership for utilities and strengthens community power reliability.

02 Manufacturing
2.1 Core
| The transformer features a wound core made of grain-oriented silicon steel. This seamless design minimizes core loss and magnetizing current, boosting efficiency. It also reduces operating noise and enhances mechanical durability for a longer service life. | ![]() |
2.2 Winding
![]() | This transformer utilizes advanced aluminum windings, with the low-voltage winding made as a layered foil and the high-voltage winding as a helical coil. This foil-and-wire combination ensures excellent mechanical strength and efficient heat dissipation. The all-aluminum construction offers a lightweight and cost-effective solution without compromising performance. |
2.3 Tank
| Built for ultimate durability, this transformer features a tank made entirely of stainless steel. This material choice offers superior structural integrity and resistance to weathering and chemical corrosion. The seamless, welded construction guarantees leak-proof operation and reliable performance in the most demanding outdoor applications. | ![]() |
2.4 Final Assembly
![]() | The final assembly of the single-phase pole-mounted transformer integrates the core-and-coil unit, meticulously pre-tested, into the stainless steel tank which is then filled with purified dielectric fluid. This critical process is performed under strict vacuum drying to eliminate moisture, ensuring optimal insulation integrity. Key external components-bushings, IFD and anti-tracking-are then securely installed, culminating in a fully sealed, robust, and reliable unit ready for several decades of service. |
03 Testing
The single-phase pole-mounted transformer (model: 50kVA-2.4/0.6kV) by SCOTECH adhered to CSA C2.2-06(R2022) and CSA C802.1-13(R2022) standards. Routine tests included winding resistance measurement (HV: 0.5552Ω, LV: 36.26mΩ at 31℃), ratio test (deviation: -0.02% ≤ 0.5%, vector group: Ii6), polarity test (additive, compliant), no-load test (loss: 40W within +15% tolerance, current: 0.95%), load test (loss: 602W at 85℃, impedance voltage: 2.15% within ±10% tolerance, total loss: 642W, efficiency: 99.30% ≥ 99.20%), applied voltage test (LV: 10kV for 60s, no collapse), induced voltage withstand test (1.2kV at 150Hz for 48s, no collapse), insulation resistance measurement (LV-HV to ground: 89.9GΩ), 20kPa pressure leak test (12h, no leakage/deformation), and oil test (dielectric strength: 57.4kV, moisture: 9.4mg/kg, etc.).
