Built for the Elements, Trusted for Performance: The Single Phase Pole Mounted Transformer.
01 General
1.1 Project Description
167 kVA single phase pole mounted transformer was delivered to Canada in 2025. The rated power of the transformer is 167 kVA with ONAN cooling. The high voltage is 2.4 kV, the low voltage is 0.347 kV, they formed a vector group of Ii6.
The modern single phase pole mounted transformer, integrating an Internal Fault Detector (IFD) and Anti-Tracking insulation, is engineered for superior reliability in critical applications such as residential power distribution, rural electrification, and industrial feeder lines. The IFD proactively monitors for internal faults to enable predictive maintenance and prevent failures, while the Anti-Tracking system robustly resists surface tracking caused by coastal salt fog, industrial pollution, or humid environments. This synergy of diagnostics and durability ensures enhanced safety and minimizes service interruptions for utility customers.

02 Manufacturing
2.1 Core
| Its core is constructed using a continuous wound design from high-grade silicon steel. This innovative structure creates an optimal magnetic path with minimal gaps, leading to superior energy efficiency and quieter, more reliable operation. | ![]() |
2.2 Winding
![]() | It employs an aluminum foil-wound design for the low-voltage side to provide superior short-circuit strength and a layered aluminum wire-wound design for the high-voltage side for optimal voltage distribution. This hybrid winding approach, using aluminum, achieves an optimal balance of reliability, cost-efficiency, and thermal performance. |
2.3 Tank
| The tank is constructed from high-grade stainless steel, providing exceptional corrosion resistance and eliminating the need for painting. Its hermetically sealed design, combined with corrugated fins, ensures robust protection against harsh environments and efficient, maintenance-free heat dissipation throughout an extended service life. | ![]() |
2.4 Final Assembly
![]() | Final assembly represents the precision integration of all major components. The core-winding assembly is sealed within the corrosion-resistant stainless steel tank, which is vacuum-filled with dielectric fluid to guarantee superior dielectric strength and cooling. The attachment of high-voltage bushings, accessories, and rigorous final testing validate complete performance, resulting in a durable and maintenance-efficient transformer optimized for overhead distribution. |
03 Testing
